Veterinary Clinic “St. St. Damian and Kozma” was established in 1991 when our first vet’s surgery was opened in the area of Studetski Grad. Prior to our surgery, in Sofia there were no more than 5-6 vet’s surgeries. At the time you could not talk about a clinic at all. The vets operating in the field of pet treatment were only a few. Therefore, we can write the history of veterinary medicine in Sofia after the democratic changes in Bulgaria.

In 1998 we moved our clinic to Hadzhi Dimitar residential area. Here, we started the FIRST ULTRASOUND IN BULGARIA especially for pets, which was a sensation. It quickly became clear that pet treatment had moved to a new, higher level and the technical equipment was absolutely required and useful. WITHOUT PROPER DIAGNOSIS THERE IS NO PROPER TREATMENT. The skill is in diagnostics, where the ultrasound is precise, especially when it is performed by a real professional, who ‘not only looks, but can see too’!

Dr. Valentin Ivanov is a graduate of the Veterinary Vocational School and the Higher Institute for Veterinary Medicine in Stara Zagora. After that, he worked as a District Veterinarian, Head of Veterinary Section for two years. From 1989 to 1992 he was a full-time post-graduate student in Sofia. In 1992 he became Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). He worked as an Expert in DZI AD Headquarters for 5 years, then as a Regional Manager – distribution of veterinary preparations in a foreign company for 7 years. Now he is completely devoted to veterinarian practice.

Our clinic operates with the best Western ultrasound equipment – 2 FUKUDA DENSHI machines and a MITSUBISHI printer allowing diagnostics of both smaller and bigger pets, including heart diseases. The frequency scope of our transducers (probes) is from 3 to 6 MHZ. In Bulgaria there is hardly any other vet’s surgery or clinic with such a wide frequency scope, which gives better possibilities for work and accurate diagnostics. Equipment and professionalism (we have both) hand in hand – make miracles!
